Toni & That Guy
While I was walking with Fi @ Orchard, a guy approached me and ask if I want to be his hair model. *shocked*
Two days after, I went to Toni & Guy Academy @ Bugis and was sitting for 2 hours, let this guy called Samuel Tan do his job as the hairdresser in probation period. Sam was previously working as a chef for few years, until his friends in fashion industry influenced him then he decided to go with the hair dressing industry. So he studied in a famous hair academy and had worked for a salon in Paragon for 4 years before he finally got the job @ Toni & Guy. During his 6 weeks probation period, he needs to find around 20 hair models for each long, mid, and short hair length. That's why he's wandering around the street.
I've never really paid intention on how complicated a hairdresser's works until that day. Sam was pretty struggling with the tidy "sectioning" for a while, even though he seems pretty pro with the cutting. He stopped his works for a couple of time to let his trainer checked on what he's doing, step per step.
The surroundings were pretty busy on that 10AM in the morning. On the left side of ours, there were some apprentices practicing with mannequin's hair. On the right, there's a class of hair-cutting theory using the salon's mirrors as the whiteboard. They use some of the hair-cutting terms that I've never heard before, such as "graduation" and "over direction" (wth is that?).
It took 2 hours to finish the work and a few minutes for me to ruin them with the wind and the-so-hot-sun while wandering around the Arab St. later. hahaha.... Pretty interesting experience and dang! i forgot to take photos there :(
